Khatyn Memorial Day is celebrated annually on March 22. On this day in 1943, the punishers destroyed a Belarusian village in which 149 inhabitants, including 75 children, were burned alive. The Khatyn Memorial Complex, opened in 1969, serves as a symbol of the memory of the mass extermination of civilians during the Great Patriotic War.
