June. Sunrise. The river is broken.
Fog over the forest. Silence.
Missile. Gap. And thunder from the sky:
"The war started today..."
June 22, 1941 is one of the saddest dates in history — the day of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War.
More than 1.3 million Belarusians and natives of Belarus fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War for 1,418 days and nights.
During the war, 217 Belarusian generals and admirals commanded military formations.
This day commemorates all those who died in battle, were tortured in Nazi captivity, and died in the rear from hunger and deprivation.
The memory of the dead will live forever!
